November 14th is World Diabetes Day.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on the 16th January 2009; I had just turned 30 years old.
As with many chronic conditions it meant sudden life changes; a different outlook. Diabetes management is an additional full-time job, 24/7, 365.
There are highs and lows; it's almost constantly 'there', monopolising thoughts, decisions, plans. Diabetes can take its toll on mental health.

@AnneK I've sometimes thought how different my mindset would be, had I been diagnosed younger. Diabetes also makes you stronger, she'll grow up to be a badass. 💪🤘
@Clavius_42 Hi. Ganddaughter has #T1D. Diagnosed 2 yrs ago at 4. We were at the beach. She was air-ambulanced to DC children's hospital. Worst few days of our lives.
Managing T1D is a full-time job. Tech helps a lot. Still times when BG is within range, next moment low.
She esp dislikes standing out at school; only one with T1D. But, staff is great.
BC she's young we hope she'll grow to take T1D in stride. Though still days she says she hates it, which is ok.
Take care. You're not alone.
