I’m hearing Covid cases increasing everywhere. Not seeing masks in stores but we can distance and remember to wash hands or use good quality hand sanitizer upon returning home.

@LnzyHou I have been masking, I ordered a fresh one from enro the second I heard cases were going up.

I seem to be the only one though. This causes me great concern as we head towards fall.

@NiveusLepus @LnzyHou

i haven’t stopped masking since it started.

read up on that pandemic of 100 years ago. they stopped masking prematurely, even threw their masks up at grand outdoor gatherings to celebrate, then a deadlier wave hit.

I don't have any N95's. The new variant is picking up. The girls were sniffly at carline yesterday from school. I immediately put on a mask. I just don't want to even be sick with a cold.

@YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @peeppeepcircus @NiveusLepus
Awesome. Probably need to order some. I actually have some regular ones and cloth ones both. But if I fly anywhere? That's a cesspool if it keeps picking up.

@CinnamonGirlE @LnzyHou @peeppeepcircus @NiveusLepus

I thought I went through a package of N95s rather quick but now I know where they went.

Yes, I'll have to be a lone mask wearer for a while it seems...

@YouInMyEye @CinnamonGirlE @LnzyHou @peeppeepcircus

I just dont want to be a reason anyone gets sick. I know theres always a chance one can be an symptomatic carrier.

@NiveusLepus @YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @peeppeepcircus
This is so true. I am fully vaxxed and keep to outside spaces. I use grocery pick-up and did for years before Covid. I will mask when in enclosed areas. But outside, or normally around fam, I don't. I feel safer now and most of my immediate fam is vaxed. I did get Covid about 2 1/2 years in, about a week after my last booster. It was rough.

@CinnamonGirlE @NiveusLepus @YouInMyEye @peeppeepcircus

I got covid a year ago although fully vaxxed/boosted. Also got flu shot in Oct then got the flu in February. Flu was so bad I ended up ER with breathing issues. Two rounds of steroids and better. Now I’m waiting to get RSV, flu & new booster in Sept/Oct.

Even ER nurses wore masks randomly or around their necks. When I protested, they said they’d had covid so many times, they quit masking.

Honestly, it's Covid burnout. I know many nurses who feel just that way. They are vaxxed, it won't kill them (not as likely to) and they have had it with it. It doesn't help I live among the conspiracy theorists. And yes. Lots of healthcare are among them. Even the ones who preach to you to do something they won't do.
Covid will never be over. It's here to stay.

@CinnamonGirlE @LnzyHou @NiveusLepus @peeppeepcircus

I wonder if the researchers who came up with the first vaccine ever thought about people not wanting to get vaxxed...

@YouInMyEye @CinnamonGirlE @NiveusLepus @peeppeepcircus

I lost three before the vax was available. The 4th was family member too lazy to get vax. Dead at 62.

@YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @NiveusLepus @peeppeepcircus
I mean who could imagine anti-vaxxers? People who refuse to believe science?

@LnzyHou @NiveusLepus @YouInMyEye @peeppeepcircus
I mean they have had it multiple times. Healthcare is a nightmare right now.
People are leaving the profession in droves.
I question who will care for me after I spent my life caring for others. It makes me sad.

Looks like a good place to mention that

projectN95(dot)org

is a clearinghouse for several different PPE companies - including N95 masks.

Even with shipping, I pay less than $1 per mask.

I've bought Gerson brand in boxes of 50 but this link is to a box of 50 for $29.99. Which is about what I paid for the Gerson masks the last time I ordered any.

It is an entirely different landscape from when I became a nurse, changed in almost every way. And while there is some technology that is no doubt better, the environment is misery. Met with my PCP this week, also a friend, and he spent a little time bitterly complaing of people in cubicles trying to micromanage healthcare. I have been there; he is exactly right.

@CinnamonGirlE @DavidKMresists @LnzyHou @NiveusLepus @YouInMyEye

It does seem robotic now. You can feel a sometimes oppressive protocol flow chart hanging over your healthcare as a patient. So much so that AI robot doctors will actually seem like an improvement. Hopefully there will be an advocate program, since nurses are often the last stop for advocating for the patient and communicating effectively through any politics and lingo.

@peeppeepcircus @DavidKMresists @LnzyHou @NiveusLepus @YouInMyEye
Honestly. No one wants their healthcare providers to not be intelligent; of course we do. But when you are scared or sick or having the worst day of your life, having a caring nurse, yes, your advocate, a caring attitude is paramount. It certainly was not always easy, hardly ever easy, but the best part of being a nurse for me. They are killing that in nurses and providers now.
