There is no way that summers were this hot when I was a kid. From July on, I am ready for fall. Currently 90 degrees at 7pm. I know it's hotter than that lots of places, but I don't want to be there either.
Maybe Canada would be good?
@Cachobweeney
That would be ideal. To have a moderate place for both seasons to be in. But not sure how long even that would work. I read an article last week saying by 2050 the "sun belt" would be inhabitable. 😢
@CinnamonGirlE We'll have to migrate like the birds 🤣👀
@Cachobweeney
Sounds like a plan. Let's get ready.
@CinnamonGirlE I grew up in Texas. The change is very, very palpable. The severe weather going hyperbolic over the past decade is an evil, added twist to the simple hotter summers in Texas.
I didn't even wear sunscreen outside (unsure that was wize, but it was easily survived). And, being #GenX , didn't that lady on Tik Tok point out that "WE WEREN'T ALLOWED IN THE HOUSE!" in response to some Millenial?
@Ellico2020bis
Exactly right! Lol, i am keeping my two 11 year old granddtrs this week and they both were complaining of being bored. I told them, jokingly, they could go out side and play and the water hose was available if they got thirsty. They looked at me as if I had lost my mine. I told them how I had grown up, you know they loved that, and to go enjoy the internet and air conditioning. Clueless, lol.
Climate change is real. And terrifying.
Ummm. Think it’s burning.
@LnzyHou
Yes, I read another article, maybe on CoSo, that said the ocean was almost to that point. Sustained temps in Florida oceans of 97 degrees over a period of days, and the ecological damage were highlighted.
@CinnamonGirlE @LnzyHou It's going to damage #Florida tourism. The coral reefs are a big draw.
But then local MAGAs here on the Space Coast want to remove the restrictions on speed boating in manatee zones, so destroying the environment is entirely on-brand for them.
@WordsmithFL @LnzyHou
It's truly heartbreaking. But nature is returning the favors.
I told someone this week it would be the time to go to Disney with all the right afraid of being "woke", but the heat alone would make that impossible alone.
@CinnamonGirlE I don't go near WDW any more. To quote Yogi Berra, "No one goes there any more, it's too crowded."
Also way too expensive for those of us on a fixed income.
The KSC Visitor Complex is up the street. I have an annual pass so I can drop in any time and use their air conditioning for a change. 😊
@WordsmithFL
It's been a few years since I was there. It has gotten terribly expensive. There is no place like it for kids though.
At any rate, not in my future, immediate anyway.
@CinnamonGirlE We used to go to EPCOT, but the educational attractions have all but been erased. Now it's all pretty much rides tied into Disney movie promotions.
At least Future World -- now called "World Showcase" remains relatively untouched. But it's still stinkin' expensive.
@WordsmithFL
It's probably been about ten years since I was there. I knew they had made quite a few changes. Epcot was always a favorite because of the educational aspect. How sad they are erasing that. I would be upset to pay that amount of money, and find it so changed for the worse.
@CinnamonGirlE Unseasonably hot here as well. But in relative terms, it may be a bit cooler.
Pretty sure Kansas is going to do a repeat of the dust bowl from the 1930s. The farmers have nearly drained the ogalalla aquifer. Another 10 years and nothing will grow here.
@KGinKS
But it's not real. Wait until there is no food to eat. People flip when things aren't stocked. We got a little preview of how kind people are when Covid got started.
I just had a discussion with someone about earth doing a reset. It's getting ready to throw us off.
😀 That makes a good mental picture, the planet is preparing eviction notices for humans. 🌎
@KGinKS
That's what is happening, even if people don't want to believe it.
@KGinKS @CinnamonGirlE great anology. We have been trashy tenants.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN @KGinKS
And our landlord now seems quite angry.
@CinnamonGirlE I leave Florida for the summer and head up to the Great Lakes but the smoke from the Canadian wildfires in June was intense around the lakes. Smoke has cleared now but nothing is like it was, you're right about that.
