@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN
That might be something I would actually consider purchasing IRL. I will be having to make a new vehicle purchase at some point, and it could actually make the possibility list.
Good idea about the renting one. I am up for the memories and feels for sure.
@CinnamonGirlE I don't even remember the last time I saw one on the road. We had a bug back during the fuel shortage in the seventies. Those things do bring back memories of a bygone era for sure.
@LexVol
I don't either. You still see bugs here and there, but not the buses. I love to see the ones people have cared for or remodeled. I wouldn't have a clue, but love the work they do.
@CinnamonGirlE I feel like they would still be a common sight out in California, especially on the coast. Or maybe that's just because of the surfing movies I seen...LOL! They are cool though.
@LexVol
Yes. Maybe there or maybe just in our narrative or there. 🤣😂🤣
@CinnamonGirlE do one of those electric conversions with an aftermarket kit. I've seen them do it to a Ford F100, I imagine a VW Van can't be that much more difficult.
@RJMay3 @CinnamonGirlE It's been done and will be more common in the future. Current technology would likely mean complete sacrifice of the trunk and ditching the spare for battery storage. Conversion would make a real Herbie, that car would be a rocket.
@MidnightRider @RJMay3
Where will I put all my things? If my trunk is gone? 😂
@CinnamonGirlE @RJMay3 Easy. In Sandy Paradise's purse silly. This will be badass just the test mule final form will change.

@MidnightRider @RJMay3
Now that is a car. 🏁
@RJMay3
Lol, for me it would be. I can drive a car. I can check the oil, gas it up, and keep it serviced. Anything beyond that? Not me so much.
@CinnamonGirlE
There are places that specialize in those sort of things.
I take it you can write a check...🤔
@RJMay3
Lol. Yes, I can definitely do that.😜🤣
@RJMay3 Pricey, but I suppose we will save money in gas?
@CinnamonGirlE there should be articles on why it was done and benefits since.
A lot of times the conversion companies will share the process.
@RJMay3
Interesting. I will check it out. Thanks.
@RJMay3
Thank you. That was interesting. It isn't as expensive as I had originally thought. It does appear to take a while for them to do it, which is understandable. I wonder how many people have done this. It talks about giving life to older vehicles. I can see how that would be a good thing.
@CinnamonGirlE it was an article on my Google page and it seemed related to your interest in an EV conversion for a lottery fantasy, so I remembered your chatting about it, so I posted the address.
It just hit me that it might have been on my web because I "showed interest".
That pisses me off, but I hope it is of some value to you.
😉
@RJMay3
I agree. That would piss me off too. But the article was interesting. I appreciate it.
@Izaya
Yes, this is more likely what we need. Todays technology with yesterdays memories😎😊
@Izaya
Yes. A couple of classics in our stable to kick around in. Lol.
@Izaya @CinnamonGirlE My uncle had a C2. Awesome. However, being old? When I see cars that ride like buckboards going over for 100K at Barrett Jackson I kinda laugh.
@MidnightRider @Izaya
There is something to be said for the new things. I love old things, but comfort and reliability have to count.
@CinnamonGirlE @Izaya First iteration 5.0 Mustang, a rocket indeed. Hey how does it stop? Ford: Why do you want to stop? Go have fun!
@Izaya
Love the Sting Rays! Now you are talking.
@CinnamonGirlE @Izaya You can't leave us hanging what are they?
@MidnightRider @Izaya
For sure some muscle cars and sports cars. But this will have to be continued. Got to get up and out today. Hope you both have a good day. Talk later. ✌️
@CinnamonGirlE @Izaya I'm headed to the attic in minutes to work on the furnace
@Izaya @CinnamonGirlE When a battery the current size can power the car the conversions will be ubiquitous. However, I will still crave the sound of a flat 6, the companies using speakers to make engine noises? That's just stupid. Similarly, there is nothing like the sound of going full throttle on a boat with a 454 in it.
@MidnightRider @Izaya
I have never ridden in an EV. I do however have an electric golf cart. I infinitely prefer the gas powered. To me, it drives better, rides better. So although I know I need to look toward an EV or even a hybrid, not sure how I am going to like it.
@CinnamonGirlE @Izaya Well there you go, just fab the microbus body onto the golf cart, should be easy peasy lemon squeezy.
@Izaya @CinnamonGirlE I'm going to electrify a 73 Schwinn Speedster I own one of these days.
@Izaya @CinnamonGirlE @MidnightRider I consider keeping our family away from gas stations a *safety* measure.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN @Izaya @CinnamonGirlE Should have been there with me in the 70's asking people at the pumps to put their cigarettes out.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN @Izaya @CinnamonGirlE Hey Cinny. Check out my awesome dad, working on a straight six before he had his own shop.
@MidnightRider
So this would be where you learned your mechanical skills?
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN @Izaya
@Izaya @CinnamonGirlE @MidnightRider #PROTIP She will!
First start with the most recent car jacking or attempted robbery story...
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN @Izaya @CinnamonGirlE Oh dude I couldn't drive my car into the city, I'd have a gun in my face before I opened the gas flap.
@Izaya @MidnightRider
I am sure it where we need to be headed. I am just not there yet.
@CinnamonGirlE I would LOVE one of those... ❤️
I keep seeing stories about a new electric one coming out, but I've never seen one...?
@princesscarolyn
Just saw one earlier today. Someone posted here. I will try to look and see if I can find one.
@CinnamonGirlE Anarticle on conversion. 50k to convert it plus the VW van to do it to. https://www.peacevans.com/electric-about
@CinnamonGirlE could be fun to rent one for a day just for some current memories and feels.
The new EV version should be fun too.
