I'm not a prescriptivist, linguistically. Yes, it's good to standardize a language but we should also keep in mind that languages change and evolve over time. What was once Latin is now the Romance languages of Spanish, French, Italian, etc.. To think that a language /must/ be spoken in one way is simply untrue, as language is a method of human expression like any other. We don't place restrictions on art, so who's to say that someone's wrong because they say "rizz" instead of charisma?

@ChumCugger another note: using slang doesn't mean one is uneducated (unless one is using the slang words out of context. hi there ad execs...). slang is group inclusive language, & tends not to become completely mainstream because then it loses its actual purpose.
yes, some slang falls into popular usage, but most fades away & is replaced by other slang

@redenigma as someone in their 20's I actually find it interesting how different generations use various generational "slang". Gen alpha of course has words like "Rizz", but my generation- Gen Z uses words like "cap" and "bussin". It's neat to be able to see things like that just in their speech.

@ChumCugger slang really is a fascinating subject. i'm 70, so i remember the slang my grandparents & parents used from their generations... and even more interesting is the difference in slang between my born wealthy grandparents & my dirt poor Appalachian grandparents.
