This may spark commentary, but I'll survive.

Our parents pass on wisdom. One thing my mom taught me is, "Chippy, not everyone is going to be like you." True words that have served me well when choosing who to be around.

We need to learn to accept people as they are - learn who they are and make the decision how to handle them.

The argument that happened yesterday was between several people. A few made an exit half way through, a few chose to enter it and chose to escalate it.

I don't think either individual is truly innocent. Heated words, inflamed emotions, past confrontations all contributed to a scene of ugliness.

I'm not in any way blaming the victim, because there was no victim. There were willing participants who let their divisiveness get out of control and neither side offered an apology.

We are presumably adults. We have ingrained beliefs due to a variety of life lessons. You will not change another person's mind with words, especially angry words.

J has offered a place safe from trolls, bots, spam, & misinformation. No where in the TOS does it say he'll protect you from your own decisions to engage in verbal combat.

Just as in the real world, CoSo has a variety of personalities to choose from. Not everyone is going to be just like you, think like you, believe as you do, or even show respect as you expect.

It's entirely up to you, as it was to the participants yesterday, with whom you choose to engage. Listen to your heart.

@ChippySuave Very well put! Also, safety from trolls/bots etc. is not equivalent to safety from every type of human demeanor that one might find rude or disagreeable. It's a community full of humans, not a utopia.
