I asked my boss for a bit of lenience for a junior colleague—an easy thing to grant with big impact on the junior and really no impact on the wider system.

They said no. It wouldn’t be fair.

And this, more than so many other things that have personally aggravated me, leads me to further ponder my exit strategy.

You HAVE to look out for the lower status peeps.
