@Bix Mussolini was thought to be a fool before taking power. Javier Milei in Argentina was thought to be a fool. As with Trump the foolishness is tool that prevents some serious people from seeing the seriousness of his threat. Foolishness that allows his more informed supporters to minimize or deflect “he doesn’t mean it”, “he’s joking”. And for his ill informed supporters he’s someone who validates their ignorance.

@CanisPundit @Bix

GOP donors dummying up the deplorables with the kayfabe of “reality TV” and “professional wrestling” in order to get them to vote for Herr Drumpkopf was/is still a fascist stroke of genius.

Cuz they bought it then and continue to do so now. Why? See below for the ultimate in “a sucker born every minute” Americana — part “evangelical huckster,” part “get rich” con artist, and all fraud who feeds on the minds of the duped AND those who believe themselves immune from same.

@InUnfunky @Bix for years breaking the 4 minute mile was thought to be beyond human capability. In 1954 Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute barrier; a record that lasted 46 days. Once it was shown to be possible others followed.

And that is my bigger fear with Trump, he’s shown other would be American autocrats what is possible.
