What is it called when you find a bone in your yard, and your orthopedic doc can't definitively say it's not human, so you report it to the police so they can put it through proper channels to determine if it might be human, so the police officer asks a bunch of questions, but you're standing in your yard the whole time? Asking for a friend.
@Agatha Hmm tricky. Is probably mostly witness because you can tell them where you found the bone. Maybe with a little bit of suspect but if you want to tick a box, I'd go for witness (unless you did actually kill someone and bury them in your yard, then report it years later, so they wouldn't think it was you who did it when the bones are found).
@Agatha and what did the bone turn out to be (in terms of species of animal)?
Well, the anthropologists who were consulted said, "Probably not human." π So if not human, something like a very, very large buck. It's part of an elbow, and I can see it fitting in a human arm.
It's very clean - doesn't look like it was underground. No holes in my yard. Found it on top of my grass. Now, my area has been built up for 46 years, and everyone has 6' fences. So maybe a bird dropped it?? π€·
@Cadence I'm a both. And if you're interested am quite willing to share both kinds of stories I've experienced. [one story is my pinned tweet over on the bird app.]
