For a sticky lock/knob, don't use WD-40 or 3-in-1/household oil ~ use a graphite spray specifically intended for the purpose πŸ‘‡. Other oils will tend to hold dust and dirt in place, and thicken in the cold and will gack the works up worse!

Sidebar: amazing that the black overspray I just wiped off the outside of my now freely moving latch, under the right temperature and pressure conditions, will become a diamond.
