Man, I love Frances McDormand when she gets to play tough-as-nails characters.

Just passed the part where an interrogation between Woody Harrelson and McDormand gets disrupted by Harrelson's character coughing up blood, completely changing the dynamic and bringing out McDormand's underlying love for life.
That shocked/frightened "I didn't mean to--" when he's just spattered her face with his blood?
Her soft-spoken "I know baby" as she cuts her interrogation short to get help?
Pitch-perfect nuance to offset the brutish realities of so much else in this piece.
