Former Democratic Senator Sinema:
The politics of the Right is demonstrably anti-American, and you have given them aid and comfort by declaring yourself an "independent"; you must resign from the Senate.
These are troubling times and it seems that a strong Democratic Party is the only counter America can offer to the rise of fascism, the aggression of Russia, and the rising strength of China's military. The GOP is in league with the fascists. A significant fraction of Republican Representatives actually support Russia, Putin, and oligarchy.
The previous Republican president went as far as to say he trusts Putin more than he trusts US intelligence agencies. The future of democracy hangs on a knife-edge. It is unconscionable that you should choose such a perilous moment to quit the party that seeks to preserve American democracy, and by extension democracy the world over. What are you thinking? Is this all about lining your pockets?
Regardless of the reason, Arizona needs two strong Democrats in the Senate to fight for the future of democracy.
This is why you must resign immediately. Do it for America, do it for the future, do it for our children. Quit now.
It saddens me that the only role you can possibly take in the fight to preserve democracy is to resign, but you chose this path and now must choose to open your seat for someone who is up to the challenge of the moment.
