My 5 year old Samsung washing machine stopped working yesterday. I'm reasonably handy, so I decided to look into a DIY repair. Found this gem on their site that makes me question their 'expert advice' cred. Note the highlighted line.

@MakerWerks We had a front load, and there was a “lint trap” in the front by the floor that would get full and it wouldn’t agitate if there was anything in it. Seemed like after we cleaned it the first time it happened a lot more often. Vowed to never get another front load washer.

@Boilergal @MakerWerks

Frontloaders are pretty terrible. My parents have gone through probably five in the last ten years. One of my old jobs had two, and we had repair techs out regularly to fix leaks in both of them. There's always someone who has one and has never had a problem, so they swear up and down that frontloaders are great and the rest of us are crazy... but I know better!!! 😄

Our current washer is a toploader from the late 90s, and it runs like a champ.

@Ubiety @Boilergal I really can't complain. This machine has basically been flawless since the day we bought it, up until yesterday. Still, not the thing you want to deal with a week after your wife get's let go from work due to a re-org.
