@LiminalLil there's some stuff worth salvaging, but how badly built & maintained was the poor thing? it looks more like a tear it down to me
@crazyuncleharris @redenigma @LiminalLil
- roof leaks in parts
- electric is not up to code
- walls are not insulated
- floor slopes in parts
I'd tear everything down to studs or to the logs, and then decide.
@Bliss @redenigma @LiminalLil adding onto this, it looks like there's a spring / well directly in the center of the house, or some kind of indoor rock pond?
@crazyuncleharris it's an indoor pond. maybe an attempt to keep the humidity up when using the wood stove, or just artsy, considering the giant moth & stained glass
@redenigma that + all the moisture from the propane heaters ooooh boy
@Bliss if you look by the garage (or maybe that's the apt) where the exterior posts are, they aren't straight...https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/4899-Bear-Path-Rd-Munnsville-NY-13409/30839975_zpid/
@redenigma The windows arent straight either. This was a house built by someone who had enough knowledge to build a log cabin by themselves (logs are too thin) but not enough help or knowledge to do it right the first time.
@Bliss New York is really thin on building code enforcement. i've seen worse than this...
@Bliss @redenigma @LiminalLil looking closer it lookalikes there's a lot of mildew / water wicking on a wall by the garage + every single visible post, not sure what the surrounding landscape around the house is, but it looks like it's potentially a low spot
