@BlastBunny Is there anyone saying a video game can't be art? Is every video game art? Even the soulless games with no intent but to fleece gamers?
In my mind the discussion is where do people draw the line. Candy Crush is corpo art, yes? But wouldn't that make Excel corpo art also? It's artistic elements are more subtle.
If artistic expression makes less 25% of a project I don't think it's art.
I’m not saying every game is art, but I am saying that most games are.
Candy crush? Not really….shadow of the colossus? Absolutely.
But even then I suppose it goes by what you define art as. If you’re going by a textbook, art is simply anything that is human creation that seeks to illicit emotions.
Can candy crush do that?…..maybe for some.
@BlastBunny the funny thing is back in the early 2000s this was a huge discussion then a lot of games that are known for their art came out. so it's funny that someone posted this haha
