Because the GOP’s policies are wildly unpopular and unhelpful to the citizens in America and they started to lose the popular vote so instead of changing their approach and beliefs they instead pivoted to manufacturing asinine scandals that are meant to enrage dumb people who then vote against their own self interest.
These are called culture wars, and the goal is to distract you from the fact that no GOP official has done anything substantial to make your life better in decades.
You don’t
I don’t
The single mothers/ fathers don’t
The hungry kids don't
Veterans don't
But if you’re flush with wealth you do.
@BlastBunny My brother's job transferred him to Kentucky years ago, so I was able to have some discussions with some of his neighbors. I was surprised at their opinions. Most honestly believed in trickle down economics. They were pro corporates. Meaning that they wanted the jobs and willing to go along with cutting their taxes and regulation to get them.
The same people who will complain the second their water gets shut off or their backyard is toxic.
Let them come in and fuck everything up but then demand the government come and fix it.
@BlastBunny "If they hurt the people I hate, then that'll lower my rent and prices and make me a millionaire... somehow!"
No see that’s the funny part, poll after poll shows that republican voters want these things.
The cheaper healthcare
The affordable housing
Medicare
Social security
Etc etc etc
They just don’t vote for people who will get it for them.
Like when the GOP tried to take a veterans health bill and insulin price regulation bill r/conservative on Reddit was just filled to the brim of conservative comments along the lines of
“OMG I CANT BELIEVE REPUBLICANS VOTED AGAINST THIS, WHY!?”
@BlastBunny There are many who do gain from GOP tax and regulation policies.
