The Go-Go's live in August of 1980, before they became stars with their first LP in 1981

@Bix Watched the documentary from 2020 on Paramount Plus.

Interesting that successful bands often follow the same arc. They get help from someone who buys in and drives them to success. Decide they've outgrown that person as the vultures whisper in their ear. The downfall begins as jealousy sets in among members. (They express regret in hindsight interviews.)

Truly rare for bands to last after gaining success.

Thanks. One of the few 1980 L.A. punk/new wave bands to become to superstars.
They had the sound for FM hits, unlike X, Redd Cross or the Pilmsouls.

@Bix Didn't the Plimsouls have a fair bit of success? Or am I just skewed by the use on movie soundtracks?
Million Miles Away, Everywhere at Once, Play the Breaks?

Found this interesting cover of the Plimsouls by Green Day members.

I love The Pilmsouls, but they were very minor stars as compared to the Go-Go's that came out the same L.A. clubs.

My fav Pilmsousls song, it is about Jack Lee

@Bix I got into them after hearing them in movies and found I liked most of their stuff.
I liked the Go-Gos less, probably because they trended more pop. For some reason I preferred the Bangles, early stuff more than when they trended to pop later as well.
