Someone got Ubuntu Touch to run on their Redmi 9c! One of my dream projects is to one day install Linux on a smart phone so I can leave iPhone and Android.

This gives me hope.

@BigMikey there have been so many starts and stops with it. What we really need is a hardware vendor to stand up and make a phone with open source in mind. This is the best we have so far, and it doesn't suck, but has a ways to go. pine64.org/pinephonepro/

@jasod I have heard amazing things about Pine Phone. I had looked into it a few years ago and found I could not get one in my part of the world. But your reply reminded me of it's existence and apparently now they are available here, so I will be checking one out in future.
I am wholeheartedly with you on the hardware vendor support for FOSS. I feel like we need all the support we can get.
