Florida Democrat Blasts Republican Sen. Rick Scott Over State's Home Insurance Crisis
Debbie Mucarsel-Powell is hoping voters make the connection between Scott’s eight years as governor and the escalating cost of home insurance.
As part of a years-long crusade to force more Floridians into the private insurance market, Scott raised premiums and rescinded discounts
all while giving private companies extra incentives and protections to operate in the state.
Judge blocks sweep of homeless camps before New Orleans Taylor Swift shows
The ruling came in response to a lawsuit filed by unhoused people who were subject to the sweep. In legal filings, they argued that state troopers violated their constitutional rights by illegally searching, seizing and destroying their property, disposing of their prized possessions and “forcibly herding” them away.

The first thing that struck me was that an event like this could happen in the heart of New York City, a city that was diverse, modern, and progressive even in 1939. The second thing that struck me was the way these American Nazis used the symbols of America to sell an ideology that a few years later hundreds of thousands of Americans would die fighting against.

@KarenSohne I am missing walks on the beach now too! Hurricane has the beach near us closed where we could walk the fish. It is a State Park and they are still working to get the parking lots cleared of sand.
@LnzyHou @dauphin87 You should meet Toby. He would drive you crazy! We have had 7 dogs and he is the first one to bark.
@KarenSohne Thanks! I miss fall. I moved from PA to Florida. I get walks on the beach but sitting out in the woods listening to the birds chirp is sorely missed.
@Pat_Walrond har? LOL
@lymphonerd I didn’t realize there were so many choices. Lucky for me I picked the right one first!
@Pat_Walrond Oh come on! You got a little excitement!

Thank you so much for your reply. Like so many others, I’m managing anxiety. I think we’ll know a lot more thru the election itself & then muddle thru the aftermath. Our democracy seems both fragile in certain ways & doggedly stubborn & recalcitrant in others.
I know there are countervailing forces, but I’m hoping for healing & righting the ship. 🇺🇸 And maybe upleveling toward our better selves.
Mine too. I was last to vote & went as soon as the doors opened today.
