If I want to move to LA, California, what do I have to do to be ready to do so?

I want as few surprises as possible for an easy transition to a new place, from renting a moving van to renting & moving in to an apartment to getting my car successfully smog checked.

Any help would be great.

@Astartiel California is extremely expensive everywhere. Don’t go without a good amount of money. Also don’t go without a job waiting. Visit for a week or so you can find a place to live. You don’t want to be living in your car.

@Astartiel Where are you moving from? Mostly money and pre-existing job there is a start. How do you plan to get to work? How far are you willing to drive to get there. Use the internet to look at housing and food costs and gas, if you are commuting. Rent should (traditional financial wisdom) Not exceed 30% of take home pay. Zillow dot com has housing options for homes for sale.
