โ€œLongo, who raised Peanut for over 7 years, was in the process of filing paperwork to designate Peanut as an educational animal. Peanut had become widely adored on social media, with nearly 600,000 followersโ€ฆ. Longo rescued Peanut as a baby after his mother was struck by a car, turning the squirrel into the face of his non-profit, Pโ€™Nuts Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary, a safe haven for over 300 animals.โ€

protocol vs. common sense.
Sometimes common sense should win

@Armchaircouch squirrel AND raccoon. Itโ€™s FN bullshit! Giiiirl, I cried so hard when I learned what happened. ๐Ÿ˜ž ๐Ÿ’”

@Armchaircouch Not the same thing, but there was a stray kitty that used to frequent my home for food. I decided I wanted to take the kitty in, so I took her to the vet to get checked out. When I came back to collect her, I was informed that they had put her down without my consent. ๐Ÿ˜ญ I was completely devastated. ๐Ÿ˜ญ I canโ€™t even imagine how it would feel to have someone take your fur babies from your home under false allegations and have them euthanized for no legitimate reason.

oh no!!
:( Iโ€™m so sorry ๐Ÿ’”
I know I donโ€™t even honestly know what I would do I would want to burn the place down @Valkyrie_D

@Armchaircouch

So weird because it's not that long ago that the only squirrels on the east coast were pets, and they weren't considered capable of fending for themselves in the wild in an urban environment.

@Armchaircouch I think what folks are mad about is that they _didn't_ have to kill the squirrel.
