some people can’t move. I know folks that are stuck, taking care of their elders, who cannot be moved, summer stuck because of their children, and the families that help them, many reasons.
A lot of people have started sharing rent space as a solutions.
I wish everybody in that situation has whatever you had that enabled you to move! Good on you but sorry you’re not where you actually want to be. @MidnightRider
it is, for a lot of us.
Some people are stuck. try compassion, afterall you know what it’s like not being able to afford life. YOU were the lucky one! you were not stuck!! imagine your life, if you would have been unable to move.
imagine your life, if you would have been unable to move. You would have a lot more things to complain about! @MidnightRider
@Armchaircouch What ? How lucky was I to almost die in a windshield of a car that ran a stop sign? Bob Dylan said a book once that he knew everybody was in pain and paraphrasing as he walked past them. I believe he was correct in that observation even people you despise go through difficult human endeavors you’re not wrong about me being lucky, but that was in being born to the parents I had, I started working when I was five years old. Let’s hear from the rest of the board matches that.
well my goodness, how would I have possibly known that. I’m sorry for your accident that sounds terrible and terrifying.
I started working at 12. I could not afford to live in Silicon Valley anymore so I upgraded my job in order to earn more money, and I am very very blessed that I could do so. @MidnightRider
@Armchaircouch Of course you wouldn’t know that, and I don’t expect you to. Yet like I said, even people that I have a hard time not hating have gotten the treatment. We all experience it different and it takes different forms in different lives, but I’m confident that everybody knows what it’s like, that nagging feeling of anxiety that we are all familiar with .
sure, you are right, I think personally, anyway …
That’s why I like the saying that goes something like, be kind to the people in your path because you never know what they’re going through that day.
I need to drop offline now, I have to get on the road and I’m still sitting here in my robe. lol.
✌️ 🙏🏼 @MidnightRider
@Armchaircouch I heard that proverb this way: Be kind to the people on your way up the ladder to greatness because you will see them again on the way back down.
@Armchaircouch Good on you, 12 is early. I have a cousin that lives in Aptos on the water. I would love to live there even one month. It’s not happening. Yet I feel like I have plenty to be grateful for and I have enjoyed this life to the best of my ability.
@Priestess I would love to do that too. I didn’t have a choice as to how late in life I could work, my injury dictated that. Yet if I had been able, I still couldn’t have amassed enough money to afford New England Even though people may think otherwise after today, I bleed solidly to the left. But you know one thing I’ve noticed as I have aged? There is no place for someone who is left of center to live that they can afford.
@Priestess Sorry about your husband having health issues. He has you and you care about him and that’s huge and you are a good woman for doing that.
@Armchaircouch I have a friend who is retiring in April, he’s worked more than 36 years. He and his wife want to stay on Long Island. It’s all they can do to afford a tiny house and make that a reality. The USG is not going to be building low-cost housing anywhere that houses are worth millions. There will never be a low-cost house on Martha’s Vineyard so that you can borrow a cup of sugar from Obama for example.
ik. I think it’s very sad. The direction of the United States has taken. I wish there were a way we could prevent the insane jacking up of house pricing. I think about this actually every day. @MidnightRider
@Armchaircouch And I am sympathetic to wanting to live somewhere you can’t afford. I was literally run out of my hometown. The taxes are triple what I pay. I guess when you work in pediatrics and see children dying it dawns on you that all this other stuff is just stuff. This life is a bitch.
