The saga continues. Around 7:30 PM (local time) they finally restored the power to the affected buildings. But everyone went home and no one bothered to make sure the chilled water was back. So, we start day 2 of reduced capacity in my server room. I hope someone is looking to make this a priority first thing today.

Turns out that the problem was much bigger than just the impact on my server room. Thankfully, it's just cooling and not actual power to the server room. We're getting by with reduced capacity, but all user data is online and available. Inconvenient at worst.

Of course today.

On-site event has most of the parking reserved for event.
Almost no one working on site.

...and my server room cooling just went sideways.

At least I'm experienced enough in how to handle this that it's not a full shut down incident right now.

Just for the record, the same company that convinced a significant portion of the EV market to go with their Supercharger technology so they could all use the tech has since laid off pretty much the entire Supercharger team....

And we wonder why we don't have any path forward in the industry.

Hakeem Jeffries should just declare himself Speaker and take over given the number of R's who chose not to come to work.

Just got confirmation that they are closing parking around my work building on Thursday for an event. I sent notification to the team to "plan accordingly". My plan is to work from home.

Server located and caressed back into operation. Now to fix the software and license issues.

My Monday is starting off frustrating me. I can't fix a problem because I cannot locate a system. Can't fix another problem because they sent an incompatible license file. This after I came into the office today to try to find wayward server.

I'm glad I got my shopping done and got home when I did. I'm hearing thunder outside. I'm going to sip my coffee and put on some music.

Before people start freaking out, and haranguing J, remember that he is a person. One who has carried all of us for years. It's a heavy load, no doubt, and I don't just mean financially, which we all know he takes the majority of.

I, like you, love this place, and to keep that, means that it's now up to us. At some point, it has to fall to us.

Took this as an opportunity to fully clean my office. Not that it was bad, but it did help to soend 15 minutes doing something.

Lovely. Network services are down at my facility. My office is fine in that my local network is functional. But anything outside my building is unavailable.

In contrast, late yesterday someone sent me an issue with part of a website. Gave me enough info I could recreate the problem, confirm the cause, and reach out to the appropriate people for a fix. The smallest detail is frequently the key to it all.

I love my job.
I love the work I do.
I even like the people I work with, for the most part.

But some days, getting people to give me accurate information about a problem can be frustrating. I spend more time digging for that one element than solving most issues. I appreciate why Sherlock Holmes turned to drugs.

Maybe Tom Selleck should get himself a reverse mortgage. I mean, he is so big on selling it. He should follow his own advice, right?

I didn't mean to go that route, and that ending really ripped my heart out. But I guess now actually doing that ending will at least get that part of the completionist in me sated for now.

Now to go find something light and fun to entertain myself for the evening.

They're testing the fire alarm system here at work today. I'm the only one in the building.
