My dad was a veteran. He hated it, start to finish. But he learned how to fly (which would both serve him later in life and get him in trouble) and became an expert on Psychological Warfare.

The government attempted to stop-loss him back into service three times because of that expertise, including for the first gulf war, when he was in his 50's and dying from the effects of being stationed at Camp Lejune.

He was a Republican, and he would have hated what we've become.
