My beach has been replaced at least twice since I moved here 30 years ago.

Sand gets brought in. Some of the beach loss is erosion due to higher tides, some of it is wind.
Nobody talks about it much, but Market Street at the Embarcadero has flooded at least 3 times due to high tides since I've lived here.
