I think the single most alarming thing the last two days have taught me is how many Republicans in positions of power have no fucking clue how the legal system works.
I'm guessing that for most of them, this is their first encounter with it.
@Animeraider
They know. A lot of them are lawyers. They also know that most of their base are NOT lawyers and are too ginned up on the kool aid to check their facts. They also know they haven’t read the constitution. Mike Johnson is a constitutional lawyer. Ted Cruz, lawyer. They know.
@MPCavalier I no longer buy the whole "they're lawyers" defense. Were they GOOD lawyers?
I know many lawyers, and every one of them to a person find the reactions appalling. (We had a discussion over Bourbon on Friday night).
One that I know quite well kept on saying that it amazes him that the American People cant go after these people for the simple crime of Bad Legal Advice.
Ah, America.
@Animeraider
Oh its not a defense at all. The fact that these guys studied law makes what they r doing even worse. They know what they are saying is bs. But by the time they get called on it by the media, its on truth social and x for the stupid masses.
@Animeraider I don't think it is half so much that they don't know how it works, as that they are lying to people about how it works, and are tying to make it not work.
They didn't spend the last 60 years infiltrating the judicial selection process and corupting the judical system because they don't know how it works.
Know your enemy.
@Animeraider
I think they're just flat out liars bc many of them are/were lawyers. They just know how stupid/faithful their base is, so there's no worry that they'll pull the wool from their own eyes & look into the bullshit their idols spew.
Why else would the GQP want an uneducated country? How could they lie to their Qult so effectively if said rubes actually had a modicum of critical thinking skills thanks to adequate educational attainment?
GQP leaders aren't stupid, they're cruel (imo)
