@knomia I couldn't get past two things: having Perrin already be married and Rand needs to be at least 6 inches taller. That's going to be an issue down the road.
Rosamund Pike is fine as Moiraine (although seeing her with black hair took some getting used to) but she's supposed to be tiny.
I think the books are too layered to film without losing a ton of detail and subtlety. It felt ham-handed to me.
If I didn't know the books I might have enjoyed it, but I do not have that perspective.
@Animeraider oh you have the same issues I have also. I also HATE the changes to Abell.
I'm trying to enjoy it anyway, but some times are harder than others.
@knomia I have moved on. I will re-read the books in a year or so, but it's not going to be a regular thing for me like LOTR has been (it is 16 books, after all).
I am now deep into Julie E. Czerbeda's "Night's Edge" series. She takes many of the fantasy tropes and shows them in ways I've never seen before..Really enjoying it.
@Animeraider it's certainly a strange way to "converse" about something, isn't it?
I still haven't made up my mind about the show but only because I love most (all but 2) of the books. I can't figure out if I dislike it on its own merits or because it isn't living up to the universe I created in my head over the last 20 years.
