I was proud to cast my first presidential vote for this man, and disgusted by how he was treated by the rabid Reaganites…but this just makes me love him more.

Jimmy Carter with one of a unique collection of a dozen stringed instruments made from a renewable timber resource, Paulownia wood, grown by Carter on his farm in Plains, GA.

“It is my hope that these instruments bring happiness to all who both play them and hear them and that they inspire us all to pursue a more sustainable future.” ~ President Jimmy Carter

Carter turned 100-years-old last week. The collection includes 4 acoustic guitars, 2 mandolins and 2 ukuleles.

Looked into buying one of those as a memorial. Turns out it's not legal to plant them in Illinois, because they're considered invasive.

In Philadelphia, the biggest problem is people cutting them down and stealing them from Fairmount Park, because the wood is so valuable.

@AlphaCentauri I'd never heard of these but love them and everything they represent. And those mandos are gorgeous 😍 🎸
