Why do I, a 54-year-old man, get breakouts on my back? The shower stream hit a new zit and I screamed in pain. Ugh.
@LiberalLibrarian Shampoo or conditioner residue irritating your skin back there? Some types contain formaldehyde ffs. Or used to, not sure if that's old news or not.

Use a soft washcloth so dead skin doesn't build up but you aren't using something harsh that will push bacteria into the pores (and perhaps harbor bacteria, like a back brush).
I like the no more tears baby wash, since it's designed for people who wash too often.
