The things is, it wasn't all that prescient. We'd had several near misses: H1N1, Ebola, SARS1, MERS, the 1976 Swine flu outbreak, MRSA, Candida auris -- everyone with any familiarity with epidemiology knew it was just a matter of time before we were hit with a virus that we couldn't contain or a drug resistant bacteria or fungus that would kill healthy people.
