I told a friend I'm disappointed that I don't have any pubs coming out around this Thanksgiving.

I hate Thanksgiving. I like to give people hard data they can use to enrage their worst relatives.

They suggested I finally finish some of my fiction and release that instead. Sounds like a plan to me!

In a comparison of how media describes FR and Islamist extremists, my co-authors and I found the that use of descriptors of mental illness were independent of perpetrator identity.

Descriptors of terrorism, however, were mainly applied to Islamist attackers.

Islamists also got much more coverage.

Media reporting on far right extremism often focuses on the attacker's individual grievances and glosses over their ideological motivations and group affiliations.

This framing makes far right violence seem sporadic, personal, and isolated, which makes it easier to view as non-terroristic.

In my depressingly extensive experience, a person who gets triggered by other people's blocking habits is not going to respect more serious boundaries unless those boundaries comport with their own feelings on how others should behave or an external force prevents them from transgressing.

Folks, please remember that you are under no obligation to seek or view horrific images. You will not gain anything from it. It does not make you tough and avoiding them does not make you a coward.

I think those who try to force others to look are just trying to hurt people.

Folks, if you're ever in charge of coming up with chants please try them out loud a few times before expecting others to join in.

It's awkward when it's ranty and has bad cadence. At the last march I attended they sounded like the writer's own unedited tweets. No one else could chant with them.

Some specifically target people who laugh at or make misogynistic jokes.

It works pretty well.
