R’s took control of Oklahoma 12 years ago when they were 7th in education. They are now 49th. They just bought 55k Trump bibles for schools and are mandating they be taught in schools (lawsuits likely to hinder that).
Funneling taxpayer money to Trump and screwing kids in the process. We have met the enemy and they is us.
@Jorro I’m lapsed but I think the teachings of Jesus have value. Everyone should be able to find their own path. And I’m firmly in the separation of church and state camp.
This is not doing the kids any favors in education. If they want to attend religious and education on their own time, I have no problem with it.
@AI78 💯!!!
@AI78 I'm a former Christian and current antitheist (yes, ANTItheist), in part due to that kind of crap.
Religion ALWAYS gets repurposed as a tool for the evil to cement their domination over others.
It doesn't matter what the core teachings are, or what the holy book says, because 75%+ of "believers" will just blindly follow what the "spiritual leaders" say...
And given time, a disproportionate number of horrible people - crooks, pedophiles, fraudsters - end up being the "spiritual leaders".
@AI78 So, way I see it, if religion inevitably ends up becoming a powerful force for evil... perhaps it's long past time religion itself became yet another archaic historical footnote that humanity shucked off on its way to an exponential spread throughout the universe.
Or perhaps that won't happen, and our species will die out here on this insignificant rock because a bunch of selfish pricks hoodwinked the brainwashed masses into serving their every whim instead of pushing humanity forwards.
@AI78 I’m an evangelical and I’m against teaching the Bible in schools, the example you are giving is the perfect example, it doesn’t improve the level of education and also it is giving priority to one religion.
