Chances are good that Musk could cover rent if he wanted to but he's refusing to pay it for any Twitter offices anywhere, not just San Francisco.
There was an article last week about the employees of Twitter Singapore (I think?) being escorted out of the Twitter Asia corporate offices by the owners of the building - for Musk's nonpayment of rent. The remaining workers are all now considered "remote" employees.

@LnzyHou I wander back occasionally to see if there's any new shitshow du jour. I'm rarely disappointed.
@AI78 Have they been able to cover building rent? I have a barn they can move into.
