Just got told "shut the fuck up, troll" over on bluesky when I questioned a user who said there's "no algo" over there.
Still waiting for someone to answer my question about how the site earns money.
There's some serious levels of delusion going on amongst a lot of the users over there, imo, like it's some kind of magical utopia with no financial pressures etc
@MrGoat Yeah, pretty much what I figured. TBH, that question was a bit troll-y 🤭 but the other reply was genuine - thinking there's no algorithm at work is either incredibly naive or plain delusional
@66ALW99 There are the "Discover" and "Popular With Friends" tabs; these have to be fed by some sort of algorithm. What inputs they use and goals they have I can't say precisely, but it isn't entirely for the user's benefit.
I'm there for much the same reason I came to be here: Someone I followed on Xwitter had migrated there and I wanted to keep following them. I stick to the "Following" tab, which I have set up to show me only the posts of those I follow in chronological order. No algo there.
