@66ALW99 To give a murkier example, reminding people who are engaging in self-destructive behaviours of the risks and consequences associated with their actions can sometimes prompt them to modify/stop those behaviours... but self-destructive people almost never want such reminders, since they're uncomfortable.
If everyone just "minded their own business" & kept their mouths shut, a self-destructive person in a fatal downward spiral might never get a "wakeup call" that could save their life.
@66ALW99 I actually think "not getting involved in anything unless asked" would be a really awful trait for a person to have... and it would be *disastrous* if everyone had that trait.
To give a straightforward/simple example, people who do evil things need to be called out - but if someone only ever gets involved in anything when asked, they will be passive to the Nth degree and sit idly/silently by... even as evil inflicts catastrophic harm.
