I have an electric guitar that I don't really use anymore. I also have a cheap 3-string cigar box guitar that I love playing but can't help but notice it's crapness.

What I'd like to do is to convert the electric so I could play it the same way, so it'd be tuned GDG and then GDG an octave lower.

The thing I'm struggling with is string choice - what thicknesses should I be looking at?
