Anybody else here a #watercolor #artist? I started #painting during the pandemic, and I’ve found it so calming and gratifying. Still learning and have a long way to go, but I have hope. Anyway, the journey has been worth it!
@MaryKontrary Hello! I do mostly small pet portraits and illustrations. I got some Peerless watercolors in a subscription box and have been having a grand time ever since. What type of watercolors do you use?
@MaryKontrary I've been painting with watercolor for a couple of years as well. I have tried Daniel Smith - love the colors but not the granulation. I haven't tried any brand of pans yet. I use acrylic now and then, and painted with oils when I was a kid (back in the mists of time...). How do pans compare with tubes?
@MaryKontrary Thank you! I'm always torn between trying new materials and getting more brush miles with the ones I already have that I know I like 😏
@1ofthesarahs I’m always having to restrain myself when I see some shiny product I don’t have. I’ve got enough of everything to paint every day for a year, but still I want more.
@MaryKontrary It is an endless struggle 😂
@1ofthesarahs I think part of it is convenience (pans). You can take them anywhere. And all the colors are right there in front of you. I like tubes for economic value and because I like that it’s easier to mix up bigger batches to paint larger areas with them, and I find the color is more vibrant, even if I sometimes have to hunt through the dozens of tubes I have for the color I want. It’s really personal preference, I think.
