@TheNewsOwl There is a strong case for investing heavily in residential, community and even commercial energy rebates. There's lots of space still on rooftops and private land for solar or wind farms. Local energy production is greener (less power lost in distance transmission), cheaper (you don't have to develop as many long-distance transmission lines through low population areas), more robust, and already connected to the grid (the production is already where consumption is.)
