@peeppeepcircus I saw this in a NASA.gov piece. The issue is that IDing these site, while critical, doesn't solve the problem. The largest emitter detected to date is an extraction field in Turkmenistan. How do we shut it down? How do we mitigate the damage? Those are the next critical questions.

It's a global problem requiring a global effort. In as far as this particular well. as you probably are aware better than me, there are methods to cap these wells. Sadam's blazing oilfields come to mind.
