This is why I don’t leave the west coast. As a parent of a transgender adult, I know what getting gender affirming care for your teenager entails. It isn’t easy, even in a blue state. This is depressing.

@GlitteryFab There are tiny bits of hope. Like the fact that my doctor, in rural Midwest, speaks of people going through menopause - not just women. But I worry about little bits not adding up to make enough difference for people who need better from us. Way overdue for better!

@weirdfizz it’s so true. My son is ftm, and bc of my history with PCOS, Adenomyosis, and stage “0” cancer in both ovaries/uterus, and because he already has PCOS, he is opting for a hysterectomy in the next few years. Thankfully he had a gender affirming primary in HS who signed on to let him get the IUD at age 16 bc of the dysphoria. Thankfully our insurance did not make a deal of it - we are lucky. I worry about those who are not.

@GlitteryFab I hope he's able to keep getting the care and support he needs. And I hope your own health goes better!

@weirdfizz thank you. I had a total hysterectomy in 2009!
