Fireball drinks stagnant water from the fountain. Fresh tap or filtered water in a bowl? Won't touch it. Fresh water in a cat fountain with motion sensor? He takes the device apart. He will however drink water from a hand held cupped under a dripping faucet.

@walterbays mine prefers murky pond water to that utterly tasteless clean water I provide.

@peeppeepcircus Nice to know he's not unique in that. It's kind of cute how he likes to drink out of my hand. But if I try to stop and pull my hand away, leaving him to lick the dripping spout instead, he swats me, grabs my arm, and pulls me back to the sink.

@peeppeepcircus He comes to paw me and stir me away from the computer, leads me to another room with a nice sunbeam where he lies down and expects, and gets, a good tummy rub. He lets me know when he's finished with a little bite. Little, if I'm lucky.

Yours too?

I believe the articles I've read saying that, unlike dogs, humans never domesticated cats. Rather, cats domesticated humans.

@walterbays Yes. I’m a big fan of how they demand affection. On their terms. They have to train us.
