i absolutely guarantee the cabling alone in this photo cost more than my house and all my guitars.

just because you can...🤷‍♂️

@northernbassist @stueytheround
Wow, I've seen some ridiculous audiophile snake-oil cable setups, but this one takes the cake.

Oh, and they are using cable lifters. 🤣

@Render

3 ohm nominal load? that eliminates about 95% of power amps out there...which is why you *need* those astronomically priced beasts.

It's sloppy design if you ask me.

And the bass extension is hardly revolutionary these days. You want to hit 16 Hz at 104 dB? You can get there for $799.

And if I ever hit the lottery, these are the main pair speakers I'm buying. They are legend among pro recording and mastering engineers in Europe. $13,000 sure isn't chump change, but I'd bet that same amount they blow away those $440,000 speakers.

If I ever bought a mansion with a concert-hall sized listening room, I might have to upgrade to these, at $64,000.

impressive...nice small footprint, healthy amplification, outstanding density--56lbs in that cabinet?--though i like messing around with amps too much to have a self powered speaker system.

have you heard a pair?

@northernbassist
I have not, but several professional classical recording engineers I talk to online on a regular basis have. If you watch Erin's review video which is mostly measurement-based, you'll see that they're about as perfect as you can get. And the fact that they have a cardioid dispersion pattern is a rare thing.

Believe me, I understand the love of tinkering with matching components. But once you hear a truly great pair of powered monitors, you won't want to go back to separate amps.

These are what I'm rocking at my desktop PC, and they honestly sound better than much more expensive designs I've heard. The company was started by former JBL engineers.

If my bookshelf speakers in my living room ever kick the bucket, I may replace them with another pair of Kali's. My Denon receiver would need to get the boot. The only issue is that there are precious few preamps that have HDMI switching and balanced outputs. This is the one I've marked for the future.

if Magnepan ever builds a self powered panel, i'll give 'em a shot. the KEF LS 50 Blacks (12" x 9"x 7.5") are great performers for both audio and video.

and both pair are 6 feet from the back wall, so that's twice as good, right?😉

@northernbassist
One of the larger Maggie's were my Ferrari poster of speakers for many years.

I think the love of that sort of sound started when I was in high school, when I briefly took organ lessons from rom a lady who had an Allen & Rodgers digital theater organ in her house. The built-in speakers weren't bad, but she liked to run them through her music listening system which was built around a huge pair of Apogee electrostats with dual 15-in subs. 🤯

@northernbassist
Only for one summer. But it made a strong impression.

There are bassheads, and then there are organists.

the Apogees would have been outstanding for organ, but with those subs...
