@kel @voltronic HEAT rounds like all ATG's and RPG's are detonate-before-impact. Directing a molten stream of metal at the armor from about 1/8th of an inch away and blow torching their way through the armor before ejecting that molten metal into the interior of the vehicle. The cages and other similar devices serve to detonate HEAT round before they reach that close to the armor.
