To be fair, she's talking about college level courses. The last year / semester of undergrad theory usually gets into mid-20th century techniques that involve mathematical formulas used in composition (and analysis of music made that way).
Most of it sounds as bad as you would expect.
Well if high school music theory was witchcraft, I’d be willing to bet any complex math built on that foundation is gonna be goddamn R'Lyehian to me.

Some friends of mine took that in high school. They were in band.

I have the musical talent of a screech owl and the musical intelligence of Trump’s third shit of the week.
Every conversation they had about that class was fucking witchcraft to me. I can understand Spanish better than music theory in English... and I took Spanish for 4 years and learned JACK SHIT.
