The spoon/fork/spork poll has ended. CoSo's favorite utensil, by a very slim margin, is the fork! Followed closely by spoon, with spork in third, getting around a quarter of the vote.
@singlemaltgirl You're the second person to bring up hands! I did almost add it, and sort of feel bad for not doing it now. I eat a lot of stuff with my hands too.
I'll let some time go by and probably do a sequel poll, including hands and maybe chopsticks. ππ»
@tyote ofc, chopsticks! totally forgot about those, too. a f/up poll would be good. i π the mail in votes to polls b/c i always learn or am reminded of my biases or how i can broaden my thinking.
@singlemaltgirl I'll likely make it in a week or so, keep your eyes peeled. Always tag them with "poll".
I was just thinking the same thing! I'm not purposefully biased (at least I hope I'm not π ), but blind spots can show up for anyone. Thanks for saying your piece and reminding me how common eating with hands is.
@tyote oh yes! we all have our blindspots, don't we? but it's how we address them/respond to them, that tells me whether this is a person i want to continue to engage w/ or not. i think it's okay not to know things. but not wanting to know things or being curious or wanting to broaden your knowledge? that's just sad.
glad my mail in vote added something to your poll! π
@singlemaltgirl That we do. I completely agree. Nothing wrong with not knowing something, but you can't get mad or exclusionary about it. Plus, people who like to fill in those holes often end up becoming well-rounded and fun people, who can then help others fill in some blanks.
Please continue to mail them in! π»
@tyote mmm, i'm sorry i missed the poll. but as children, we start w/ a spoon. well, we start w/ our hands, really. my hands remain my fave utensil. but then i'm brown & we eat w/ our hands & it's considered completely civilized. most white peeps act w/ shock, horror, or curiosity.
were any of the mail in votes, hands or fingers?!?!
