Ok. Like everyone I am looking for answers about how the Apalachee school shooting resulted in casualties. I am sad and mad about this as well. I have questions though, like if all the doors lock when shut how did the shooter "Lean in" the Algebra classroom and start shooting? If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it. What was the policy on classroom doors during class time? What is mandated for that? I can't wait for Harris to become president and we take back the house.

@tw33k Can't say on that situation, but at the university where I worked, the doors locked from the inside. If the instructor failed to lock the door (like a student went to the restroom and they were waiting for a return), there's a lean in. And doors can be shot out. They typically aren't bullet proof. A big discussion was whether to have to little windows so you could see who is on the other side.

@TheresaVermont what do mean a "Lean in"? Is that something to to do with the door itself, or does that mean it was just opened a little bit?

@tw33k The police used that term for a door being open a crack, or a broken window, and the perpetrator was leaning in, rather than entering. In some cases, the shooter uses the door as a shield.

@TheresaVermont apparently there doesn't seem to be a mandate for the classroom doors to have been closed at all times per their school board policies.

@tw33k It's really difficult. In my world as a college instructor, most of the buildings I taught in did not have air conditioning. Students walked in late or left for the restroom. It's just not easy.

@tw33k Why do Americans hate their children??? Canadians own guns, they don't have the Ten Commandments in their classrooms, and have ZERO school shootings. Why do Americans HATE their children????

@ReneeVoiceBrand I bet your laws and our laws look vastly different when it comes to gun control. We have so many possible solutions for this and yet the Republicans are never for them and hide under the veil of personal property and second amendment rights. I would want for us to have super strict laws against who can own a gun. A good first start, but not the last I hope, is holding the parents responsible as well as the under age shooters. That's two now where the parents have been arrested.

@tw33k What I find interesting is the 2A crowd hasn't pushed back against indicting and convicting the parents. I thought they'd be outraged. Aren't they the ones who say no one is held accountable when a gun is used??????

@tw33k

Tweet, I thought I read yesterday that the shootings were in the hallway? I did not save a link, however...
