Balancing facts with creative freedom, series creators Vladimir Tagic and Goran Stankovic have aimed to capture an overview of the socio-political landscape in Serbia from the 1990s through the early 2000s, along with the atmosphere of uncertainty and chaos during that time.

The authors emphasize that this is a "dramatic interpretation of real events - the product of imagination and creative freedom of the authors. The main characters are fictional, and some scenes are the result of assumptions, artistic processing and do not represent objective truth.
Sablja won awards in Cannes (Best Ensemble Cast) and Brno (Best Series at the “Serial Killer” festival) and premiered in Belgrade, Sarajevo, and Leskovac.
