I remember walking into the break room at work before starting my shift at a call center on 9/11, seeing the news on the TV, giving a shrug and saying aloud "Well, who didn't see *that* coming." and then walking back out to my desk.

Call me jaded, but for anyone who actually paid attention to the geopolitical atmosphere at the time, it was only a surprise that it hadn't happened sooner.

Still a tragedy, but an expected one.
