@Bliss: Ah, yes. The classic Dem problem since the 1990s. They talk a mean game but then stick to the metro areas and large EC votes states, for the most part.
No small number of folks in the Southeast, Industrial Midwest, and the Plains and Central US haven't forgotten that they voted for Clinton, who campaigned in opposition to NAFTA but then fast-tracked it once in office. The Dems gave up the ground game in the 1980s, and the GOP, with the help of the alt-white -- Thanks to Reagan's and Atwater's "Southern Strategy", took that ball and ran with it and are still running with it.
