: Just found out on FB that a small handful number of county chairhumans are discussing with the state GOP office the possibility of withdrawing support for Trump/Vance and not participating in the remainder of the campaign for him.
It is hearsay at this point, though it does come from a longtime friend in the party and who's always given the the straight dope on goings-on, since around 1990. His family's old and well-placed in state politics. i.e., old money (pre-Civil War money).
@thedisasterautist Trump is nouveau riche scum.
@LiberalLibrarian @thedisasterautist Mrs Astor would *never* associate with his ilk. ;-)
@rpardee @LiberalLibrarian: His folks aren't the ones doing it. His mom and dad and the rest of that crowd don't give a shit who the President is. Nor do they bother acting like Downton Abbey over anyone. Real Old Money doesn't tend to act IRL the way they do in movies and on tv... or in comics. LOL
@thedisasterautist was it clear which fat guy they meant?
@rpardee: They (the Aiken County GOP Board) were talking about Trump. He was pretty much all they talked about but for what they were ordering, some grandkids, the weather, and organizational finances.
I wouldn't have brought it up at all if I didn't know who they were talking about. 🤷♂️
Politically speaking, that would be a good move for them at this point. It will also remove those GOP County Chairs from being complicit in any election tampering that might be in the plans.
: That said, I do know, first-hand, that one SC county GOP board has a majority that have openly stated "The Fat Guy is radioactive". These were nearly all Boomers, too.
(That's where I got the slogan for the memes.)
They were at the table beside me at the Metro Grille on Whiskey Road last year. I heard what they were saying. It was their weekly meeting.
